Pros and Cons of Boy Shorts

The boy short style of underwear is a relatively new style for women. If you have never tried them you may be pleasantly surprised. This panty style is not really a “boy” style at all.  It is more like the bathing suit bottom style of the 1950’s.


The leg opening is straight across but snug to the body without tight elastic at the opening. A wonderful style with summer dresses and a favourite with jeans.

Bras for hard-to-find Plus Sizes

Plus Sized lingerie is difficult to find and the larger sizes within Plus Size are a real challenge.

The Goddess Bra Company manufactures bra styles specific for Plus Size women. They focus on the large cup styles. Theses styles offer encapsulating support and encourage back comfort. They are designed with tall front support panels, non stretch straps and 4 hook closures to aide in support.

In 1945 a woman named Helen Jacobson started this company because she could not find bras to fit her fuller figure. With her guidance they quickly became a leader in this market and still are today.

The company has been through many changes since 1945 and are now owned by Eveden Inc. Evenden is also the manufacturer of other high end lingerie brands such as Rigby & Peller and Fantasie based in the UK. If you know these brands you know they must be good proving the bras are beautifully made.  

Goddess bras are available in a nice style selection in sizes from 36DD thru 54F.  

Goddess has a “Special Order” program where large size bras can be ordered in their style range. This is great as the majority of stores do not stock these sizes. Plan ahead when you need something because it will take up to 3 weeks but you will be thrilled with the product.

High Tech Bra Dryer

Bras and most lingerie should only be hung to dry as the intense heat of a dryer destroys the integrity of the garment. If you adore high tech gadgets and cannot wait for your bra to dry on a line, here is the perfect item for you.

A futuristic electric bra dryer. Scientists noted that in order to maintain the original shape of a bra it must dry on the body. They have developed this appliance that dries the bras using a low infrared heat and small fan to evaporates moisture until the fabric is dry. The bra is placed over silicone rubber breast shapes to mimic the body. The appliance comes with silicone breast shapes from size B to DD.

Will every household own one of these? I don’t think so. I, for one, own several bras and have no problem letting them dry on a small line in my laundry room.

My main question is, where do you put this? I love high tech gadgets but this is just too much.

Olympic Spirit - Plus Size Sports Bras

The eyes of the world are focused on the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games. I am not a huge sports fan however I can’t help feeling the international enthusiasm for the best of the best.

While I am immersed in sports, I think it is a good time to look at plus size sports bras. A sports bra is a must for walking as well as working out or impact sports. If you are catching Olympic fever and are ready to get active, the bra you choose is important for you.

Unfortunately there are not a great variety of sports bras in larger sizes. The sports bra is a softer, unstructured bra made of a moisture wicking fabric. Some women prefer this style for every day as well as exercising.

These bras can almost look like a summer top. They have no wires in them for comfort when moving. The back is usually a racer back or close set straps in the back to give freedom to the shoulder blades during movement. The high tech fabrics make these styles so comfortable and soft against the skin with the moisture wicking ability as a great asset.

Sports bras have attention given to comfort during movement so that nothing will bind up or rub and create sore spots on the skin. Most hooks are padded and the trims are covered in a soft microfiber. No lace or pretty bits. These bras have a job to do …..

Shop for Valentine's Day Lingerie

Basic bras that should be in every women’s top drawer.

 

Every woman should have these basic bras in their lingerie drawer. If you have one bra and wear it everyday…stop right now! There are a few basics that are a must for every woman. In order to look your best you must have certain bras for different outfits.

You cannot wear the same one everyday with every outfit. Rotating your bras makes them last much longer and makes you look and feel great. Feel free to add to this with other fun and fancy bras. This will be a good basic guide to start.

1. T-shirt bra - This is now the standard bra. This is a new name for a formed, padded bra that has no detail on the outside. These styles are ultimately smooth and will not show lace or seams through fabric. It is a must for under t-shirts and fine fabrics. Many of the newest and most beautiful fabrics are very fine and show even the slightest seam. These come in lots of great colors or you may choose to have this in your skin tone or black.
2. Everyday, basic white bra - Although this a basic go wild, this is the old standard so go with lace and a pretty style. Make sure it is comfortable and supportive for everyday wear.
3. Skin colored bra - A bra that is a close match to your skin color is wonderful to have. A white bra will often show through your clothing but a skin tone will nicely blend in and fade away.
4. Convertible bra - This bra is designed so the straps can be removed. This style will come with extra long straps for a cross shape in the back. This becomes a strapless bra for evening wear. Most importantly it becomes many fashion statements when worn with the newest trend of decorated and clear bra straps. I first noticed clear straps a few years ago when I was in the Caribbean. They were the best idea for little summer dresses that have skinny straps if you do not want a strapless bra. This is also a good one to have in black. Most often if you need a strapless it will be for a black dress. This may not be available for you if you wear over a 44DD. These bras do not offer enough support. Decorative, Fashion Trend Bra Straps

Have you ever worn a top or dress that constantly reveals your bra? Instead of being frustrated why not embrace it and add an extra fashion surprise.

Although it has become common to have your bra strap showing it is still nice to have it match your outfit. These decorated straps replace the regular straps of your bra. That also means you must have a bra with removable straps. A convertible bra is a good one to use as it already comes with a couple of different straps of different lengths and the ability to remove them.

The holiday season is coming and this new fashion trend is a great addition.  Rhinestone, crystal and pearl straps have a distinctly formal flare. Why not make a statement?
